My White . . . s p a c e

So, I'm linking up this Thursday evening with Faith Barista . . . See ------>
the link over on the side; you can read other responses to Bonnie's question/prompt/musings, etc. :o)

Spiritual Whitespace . . . this is a new name for a time in my day and life that I have known as devotions, meditation, my quiet time with God. Bonnie explains in her blog post here that from the beginning God has wanted us to have "soul rest."

“In repentance and rest you will be saved, In quietness and trust is your strength.” Isaiah 30:15

In addition, Bonnie shared in her post today 5 Killers of our Whitespace. I agree with these killers. I have allowed at times all of them to steal my time with my Lord and Savior.
Not anymore, I cherish ever miniscule moment I am able to spend with my Savior no matter how it may look to someone else or compare to how they spend their time. It's my relationship and it isn't going to look or feel like anyone else's. Isn't that awesome!

It has taken me many years to finally come to this moment in time where I don't hold my devotion, quiet time, meditation, or white space time against what I hear my sister's in Christ describing as their time. What they are doing, or what some Christian author says is the "right" way to spend this time, it's not for me.

About a year and a half ago, God made me STOP what I was doing. He clearly said to me, "Be still and know that I am God."
So, I stopped and I have reaped wonderful blessings from Him because I was aware of His still small voice.

This summer my whitespace moments have been beside a campfire with the canopy of stars above my head and a chorus of crickets around me.

So, my prayer for you my few readers, is that you will find your unique time with our Lord and Savior. That you will be richly blessed by your time with Him.

Blessings of joy,

Michelle

How July Evaporated in the Heat

So, I turned the calendar over yesterday to August wondering where exactly July went.

The second half of July went by in a watery, humid blur. Here's how the days began to evaporate.
In May and June, Kenosha experienced three unique wind storms which resulted in many shingles on our roof to be loosened or blown off completely. A hidden problem will be revealed soon because very little if any rain accompanied these "windstorms." We began the process of getting the insurance company to cover the loss and repair/replace the roof. There were many delays and several inspectors/contractors looking at the roof who failed to suggest we tarp any of the areas, ugh!

Fast-forward to July 22, severe thunderstorm watch is issued for our area and the rain and thunder begin around dawn. While having coffee and my quiet time in the living room, I begin to hear water running. I discover that yes water is running . . . down the wall between the kitchen and living room. Then, it started accumulating in the ceiling above the china cabinet . . . and finally it fell :0(

After a HUGE waterfall of rainwater, the ceiling collapsed onto the china cabinet :0/

After some dear friends came to my rescue and helped to remove all the wet insulation and such so the drying process could begin.

Oh, did I mention my husband was driving home from the east coast where he had been teaching robotics for the last two weeks. He was somewhere in upstate New York when my frantic call informed him water was running down the wall.

Needless to say, I haven't really completed anything or made very much progress. Actually, I am behind on both quilt-a-longs and the wedding quilt. Here are some pictures of my progress during the month of July.

A Moda Whimsy Honey Bun
and cut the stripes in half. (I only used half of each strip for this table runner)
then separate the strips into light, medium, and dark clusters and sew together into strip sets of three.

Next, cut into 3 1/2" squares . . .

Clear off your dining room/kitchen table and arrange into an alternating pattern.

Stay tuned for further updates because it is 10:15 pm and I need to get some sleep. Zzzzz

Blessings of joy,

Michelle

P.S. yes, I now have 4 projects going :0) This one is for my BFF who is turning 40 on the 21st. I just had to sew something pretty for her.
